Winner of the Atlas Antibodies’ travel grant of 500 euros to attend the FENS Forum 2022 in Paris

We are happy to announce that Chiara Musillo, a Ph.D. student from La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, is the recipient of the Atlas Antibodies’ travel grant of 500 euros to attend the FENS Forum 2022 in Paris, 9-13 July.

June 2022

Her research project has been selected by our scientists at Atlas Antibodies among many good applications.

Chiara Musillo

”The main goal of my research work is to study the neurobiological mechanisms underlying different early life stressors with a specific focus on derangements in oxidative stress pathways and inflammatory processes and their sequelae on neurodevelopment ultimately increasing the individual vulnerability to psychiatric disorders ”, says Chiara.

Motivation

"While postnatal psychological stress has been widely studied for many years, the research project led by Chiara Musillo et al. falls in the new body of research, aiming at identifying the effects of prenatal (in utero) stressful experiences and how they can affect fetal development.

In particular, the research focus on stressors experienced during pregnancy, such as maternal obesity and maternal psychophysical stress, as risk factors for psychiatric disorders and mental health outcomes in the offspring.

By combining animal models, in vivo pharmacological treatments, behavioral assays, and a detailed gene expression analysis of different markers in the brain hippocampal regions, this research covers a comprehensive view of the topic"

Congratulations Chiara! See you in Paris!
