Anti-TOMM20 polyclonal helps to reveal mitochondria's contribution to inflammatory responses

Article: "A novel mechanism for NLRP3 inflammasome activation"

Mitochondria's contribution to inflammatory responses.

The NLRP3 inflammasome, an essential component of the innate immune system, plays a vital role in various metabolic and inflammatory disorders (obesity, type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, gout, atherosclerosis, and neurodegenerative diseases as well).

Given the crucial role of NLRP3 inflammasome in governing inflammation, metabolic and immune diseases, elucidating the mechanisms underlying NLRP3 inflammasome activation warrants the development of novel and promising therapeutic approaches to combat these disorders.

A new study by Tan Zhang et al., 2022, demonstrates that activation of inflammation induced the expression of genes involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and mitophagy and gradually led to increases in mitochondrial mass and mitochondrial membrane potential, thus suggesting the involvement of mitochondria in inflammatory responses.

Our Triple A polyclonal anti-TOMM20 antibody (HPA011562) was used in the study as a mitochondria marker using confocal microscopy ICC-IF.
