All antibody products supplied by Atlas Antibodies are mono-specific antibodies,
designed to have low cross reactivity to other human proteins and to work across
various application platforms. The mono-specific antibodies are generated by a
strategy where Protein Epitope Signature Tags (PrESTs) are used both as antigens
for the development of polyclonal antibodies and as affinity ligands for the subsequent
purification of the antibodies. The PrEST fragments represent unique regions of the target proteins.
The antibody products have been validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) program and the result of the use of the HPA antibodies in immunohistochemical staining of 48 normal human tissues and 20 human cancer types are available at www.proteinatlas.org.

The quality control steps performed by HPA are in brief;
- Protein array analyses with spotted PrEST antigens are run for determination of sensitivity and specificity.
- Western blot analysis against protein extractions from cell lines and tissues is used to analyze binding
properties of the antibodies.
- All immunohistochemical staining of normal and cancer tissue are being examined by trained pathologists to
control for reasonable binding properties in immunohistochemistry.
